International Opportunities
A Global Network

Fordham Law’s international programs put students face-to-face with overseas neighbors who need legal help. Students engage with global companies, collaborate with governmental agencies, participate in extensive human rights initiatives, and learn from distinguished foreign professors through study abroad programs from Dublin to Shanghai. Along the way, they garner internships with multinational corporations, law firms, courts, government offices, and major human rights organizations.

Prepare for your international human rights career with fieldwork-centered investigations and advocacy programs through the Center’s Crowley Program in International Human Rights in partnership with advocates and organizations abroad. Students participate in every aspect of designing and executing a human rights project, including fact finding, capacity building, and advocacy projects to gain a comprehensive understanding of the role of a human rights lawyer.

Engage in real-world human rights lawyering in the Walter Leitner International Human Rights Clinic. You’ll learn to be a strategic, reflective, and creative advocate for social justice through programs and partnerships with grassroots organizations around the world.

Examine the key role that corporations play in the field of human rights through the Corporate Social Responsibility Program. You’ll get the grounding for work on business and human rights issues through the Corporate Responsibility Clinic, which explores these issues in partnership with business and non-governmental agencies.

The Asia Law and Justice (ALJ) Program exposes you to critical human rights concerns in Asia, a region that is diverse and faces a wide range of challenges. The program also provides opportunities to participate in rule of law and access to justice projects in partnership with advocates and grassroots groups.

The Sustainable Development Legal Initiative (SDLI) serves as the Center’s focal point in promoting international sustainable development, using the law to promote environmentally sound growth and poverty eradication.

Hear human rights experts discuss their work throughout the year as part of the Center’s weekly Human Rights Speaker Series as leading advocates and scholars join Fordham students for dynamic conversations.

Gain valuable experience with a Leitner Summer Fellowship grant to work with international human rights organizations full-time for 10 weeks during the summer.

Get your foot in the door after graduation with the James E. Tolan Human Rights Fellowship, which awards one year of postgraduate funding for a Fordham Law graduate to work on a program designed in conjunction with an international human rights organization.
